Utah Ski Resort, known for its Swiss-themed architecture, offers guests a picturesque location with on-site dining, a pool, and activity facilities. However, the property is widely criticized for being significantly run-down and poorly maintained, with conflicting reports on cleanliness and an extremely variable guest service experience.
Seems ok enough. Bed is mid at best. Pillows flatten to nothing. Water pressure for the shower was extremely weak. Complimentary coffee only avaliable in the evening (weird bc most people drink coffee in the morning). They do have a Starbucks if you want that or some kerig cups in room (only dark roast, black tea and decaf avaliable). We did enjoy the hot tub and water feature. The pool is heated and connects to the outside which is cool too. Not a bad stay.
This is a great spot! We rented a villa for our anniversary and it was mostly good. The villas were clean and had a little bit of updating. Pillows were the worst pillows I've ever used in my life!! But the bed itself wasn't bad at all. I was super disappointed that none of the TVs in our Villa were Smart TVs. So you had to watch regular cable TV, without a guide, which was a bummer cuz we wanted to watch our normal stuff. And we had no way of really seeing what was on other than kicking it old school and channel surfing. But also the bedroom TV was like a 25-in so it was a computer monitor lol. We also got a couple's massage and that was great! The gals who gave us a massage were wonderful and the massages were great. The rest of the spa and wellness center were kind of mid. It was definitely like clean and nice but it wasn't some crazy spa experience. And you are still paying crazy spa experience prices. One last thing that was annoying. I don't know what was going on but through one of the whole days, someone in one of the villas or if they have a big kitchen for the whole place in the villas area was cooking something. It was disgusting smelling. The whole place wreaked! Also parking sucked when the lot was full at the end of the night. Mainly because a bunch of the stalls had giant snow piles in them where they shovel everything to. Having said all that, it was for the most part. A good stay. It's a cool spot to be in, especially with snow. And a lot of things were a fun vibe
**UPDATE** I was contacted by the spa manager, and she was very professional and apologetic. She took my concerns seriously and made every effort to make things right. I truly appreciated the effort and would love to go back and give them another try. I didn’t stay at the hotel, but I booked a 90-minute couples massage. Unfortunately, my massage was a very disappointing experience. The therapist repeated the same five movements for the entire session, with no real attention to different muscle groups. I kept hoping it would improve, but it never did. What was even more surprising was that she sat down for nearly half of the massage, not just during the neck portion. It felt rushed and inattentive rather than therapeutic. The next day, I was extremely sore, bruised, and in significant pain. It felt like I had been beaten up, and not in the way a good deep-tissue massage should leave you feeling. Overall, I left very disappointed and would not recommend booking a massage here.
Hey everyone! I hope this review can help shed some light on the state of this place so other people don't have a similar experience.? Our stay was terrible, actually. So much so that we were only in our room for about an hour, then tried to use the hot tub and steam room amenities after skiing all day. Everything that we wanted to use and came to the resort for was non-operational including the co-ed steam room, indoor hot tub, and outdoor hot tub. Thus, my wife and I (who were trying to have nicer late honeymoon) decided we were better just going home and sleeping in our bed (as we live about 45 minutes away). We didn't do anything beyond set our bags down in the room, start unpacking, and went to dinner before we decided to go home. Honestly, if all the non-operational facilities would have been disclosed at the time of check-in, we would have just gone home then without seeing the room. Furthermore, we waited at the front desk for around 25 minutes with a "we'll be back temporarily" sign placed on the counter before we asked a woman at the bar (who was helpful) where we might find someone who works at the front desk. Eventually, the man working the front desk came back, told us there was nothing he could do for a refund without his manager, and said since we booked through a third party, it would be tough. I basically had to pry any information about how to get in touch with said manager (Ana S., because for some reason he wouldn't give me her last name) and he said she would call me the next day. I called the third party, and they said all they would need is the manager's approval and would open a refund request for when the manager contacted me the next day, no problems otherwise on their end. Well it's the end of the next day, I have called the number that I had to pry the front desk for twice (plus left messages), and no call or call-back from the manager. I feel like the situation at least necessitates a call to help resolve the issue. Yet, here I am left with the worst hotel service I've ever had, and my wife and I driving home instead of enjoying our late honeymoon. I know this was long, but I hope it helps provide some clarity on the state of affairs at the Zermatt Resort in Midway, UT. Best, Conner Covey, PT, DPT, CSRS
I love to stay here on occasion, but this particular trip was not in our favor. First I requested an early check in the morning of, didn't hear anything back. Then tried to check in at 3:00 which was denied. So we tried the bakery and it closed at 3:00 which makes no sense because people can't check in at the hotel until 4:00. Then came back 10 minutes to 4:00 to check into our room and they said my room still wasn't ready yet when I saw other people checking in. They should have just told me to wait a minute. Because when I came back at 4:00 the line was outrageous with only one one person at the desk. Keep in mind I already checked in online and all I needed was my key. After all that we went to Z's Steak House and they had no tables available. I even tried to make a reservation 5 days before and they never answered and didn't call me back. So Finally I thought we could unwind at the Spa which you already pay a daily fee for and they were also all booked for the entire weekend. I felt defeated with nothing to do on Valentines Day weekend. Maybe that's just bad timing and/or bad luck. Either way it sucked, but we tried to make the best of it.
We have stayed there for 8 years during the Sundance Film festival This trip the Hotel was disappointing..... No massage available/ the sauna and steam room not working/ closed ........everything seemed to be in disrepair. Once we pointed this out the staff delivered fresh towels and tried to be accommodating. Seems the Hotel is ready for upgrades in terms of the facilities. Not sure we will be back ................as Sundance is now in Boulder CO.
I've been meaning to leave this review for months now.... better late than never! We had a tradition of going to the Zermatt prior to COVID but it seems even 5-6 years later they are still a mess and blame the shut down. This place used to be wonderful, now it's just a run now shadow of what used to be. It isn't just about money but memories...and they've failed terribly.
We stayed in the villa’s which were very nice. The pool area is great. Unfortunately the waterfall was not working at the hot tub which was a bummer. We played mini golf which was fun. Overall we enjoyed our stay.
Very disappointed with our stay at Zurmat Hotel Resort from 12/30–12/31. This was meant to be a short family getaway, but it ended up being frustrating and exhausting. We waited about 20 minutes for staff to arrive at the front desk when we checked in. While delays happen, it wasn’t a great start. The pool was also extremely cold, which pushed everyone into the hot tub, making it overcrowded and uncomfortable. The biggest issues came at night. The beds were incredibly loud and squeaky — even small movements caused a lot of noise. The bedding was itchy and uncomfortable, and my wife and I couldn’t get comfortable at all. Our kids ended up sleeping on top of blankets they brought from home just to make it bearable. On top of that, the guests in the room above us were very loud, with heavy walking and noise continuing until around 2 a.m., making it nearly impossible to sleep. For a hotel with this reputation, the experience was far below expectations. We’ve stayed here in the past and had a much better experience, which makes this even more disappointing. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst hotel stays we’ve had — we’ve honestly had more comfortable stays at much more basic hotels. We won’t be returning and would not recommend this hotel to others!
Unfortunately a gas leak happened. We were notified by a very quiet tap on our door at 8:00 AM. 3 fire engines outside, 2 fire pickup trucks, and 3 police cars. Seems like the employees didn’t understand the importance of letting guests know they need to evacuate. They sent a text an hour and a half after we were cleared back into the building. Not to mention, pool was FREEZING and kind of smelled. Rooms were in terrible shape and outdated. Every food option on the property was closed during our stay. (Not necessarily their fault but still sucks NOTHING was open). Seems like the property will be going out of business soon. I took a look at other reviews and not a lot of people are happy with their stay. Hopefully the company looks at the reviews and actually makes changes happen. There must be new management because years ago this place was awesome… now it sucks and you’d have a better experience at a motel. Don’t see us coming back anytime soon. Pretty sad that such an awesome place with an awesome location is going down hill FAST.
